Sara was admitted to practice in 2020. She completed her undergraduate degree with honors at the University of Florida prior to graduating magna cum laude from Gonzaga University School of Law. While there, she served on the boards of the Women's Law Caucus and the Journal of International Law. Sara was among the inaugural recipients of Gonzaga's Certificate in Civil and Human Rights, which provides an opportunity for students to formally focus their legal education on the study and analysis of civil and human rights and the legal, theoretical, and policy perspectives associated with these rights. The Certificate requirements include a minimum cumulative GPA, a minimum number of academic units in approved courses, a minimum number of hours of experiential learning, the completion of a substantial written work, and a minimum number of public service hours.
Before founding Porto Law Firm, Sara worked as a public defender in several Eastern Washington counties. She also represented parents in dependency proceedings, which is where she found her true passion in the law. While that work was incredibly rewarding, Sara has made a career of representing youth across Washington as they navigate systems in search of a permanent home. She treats every client with compassion, empathy, and tireless advocacy - giving children a voice where they otherwise would not be heard.
When not at her desk, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their many adorable pets. She also enjoys reading fiction and dabbling in writing her own novels.
